Global Greens 2001 and RIO+10 international workshop, Canberra, Australia, 12 to 16 APRIL 2001.
The Australian Greens has played host to to the Global Greens 2001 Conference and Rio+10 international workshop, Canberra, Australia, from 12 to 16 APRIL 2001. The conference was located at the National Convention Centre is in the centre of Canberra overlooking leafy Glebe Park.
The Workshop was jointly organised by the Heinrich Boll Foundation (Germany), Friends of the Earth Australia and the Green Institute (Australia).? HBF and FOE International have both made the Rio+10 process a focal point of their activities and this workshop was an integral part of their programs.
As the delegates were from all over the world and debates were also carried out in many languages The Australian Greens chose BRAMSHAW ICS to provide our DIGIMIC push button microphones for all table tops at the conference and also our INFRACOM Infra-red simultaneous translation equipment to enable delegates to listen in their mother language.
This enabled all delegates to take part in the far ranging debates by allowing them to operate their microphones themselves (push on - push off) and also to be able to hear replies in their own language via our infra-red receivers.
Smaller break out meetings used our wireless tour guide system for communication and simultaneous translation.
The Workshop featured outstanding speakers and over 100 international participants from all continents and regions, plus a similar number of observers, and was widely reported in the international press.
